Join Our Cause

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our response team, allowing Mary’s Place to have the greatest reach and impact in our community. We are always looking for mature, empathetic, and dedicated individuals who are driven to make a difference in our community. This integral role has the ability to serve in a variety of ways, including Crisis Line Volunteer, Hospital Advocate, clerical support, fundraising, or to staff booths at area festivals and educational events.

Volunteers must be 18, complete a criminal background check and a mandatory 20-hour training program. To maintain an “active” status, we request committing to twelve (12) hours of service per month, in addition to attending quarterly volunteer meetings to stay up to date on Center happenings and increase knowledge of sexual assault.

Crisis Line Volunteer

This emotional support roll functions from home and helps the caller by offering advocacy and support. 6-hour shifts are spent “on call”, allowing volunteers to sign up for the shift that works best with their schedule. Calls are routed, confidentially, through our answering service so both numbers remain private.

Hospital Advocate

Individuals volunteer for an “on call” 12-hour shift weekdays, or a 24-hour shift on the weekend. Working closely with a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) and area police, the Advocate visits area hospitals to support survivors and their family/ friends.
